Social Marketing Basics

  • Social Marketing is STILL the hot phrase in web site management & it’s the use of social networking sites to reach out & engage potential customers; sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, others…
  • Making Your Business Social:

    1) Create an account…
One of the first things we do when we create a web presence for a new client is to get a number of social networking accounts for them. Typically, you have to create a user name, then a password and provide a valid email address. Pretty simple, really.
    2) Dress up your page…
This is where things can get a bit tricky. Usually you can choose from a selection of network provided templates. If you want something custom, something unique, you’ll need to know a decent amount of code.
Backgrounds, including images (single or repeating) and colors can really excite you visitors or chase them away. Text fonts and colors can also have a powerful effect, for better or worse.
    3) Add some content…
I’m always saying “content is KING” and that’s no exception here! An appealing design is important to catch their eye but quality content is what really captures your prospective customer’s attention, gets them engaged!
    …and finally,
    4) PROMOTE! Get social!
If you build it, they will come but you want them to come in droves! Then you’ll see some action and a return on your social marketing investment.
Make sure your site has “share” buttons for all the most popular social networking sites, add your Facebook, Twitter or other social site handle to your print and media ad collateral. Offer a special promotion for “liking” a page, post, etc. and watch your traffic (and profits) grow!

    Why Use Social Marketing?
